• 100102 :: Blizzard has announced a patch to support Mac OS X for D2 and LoD, which will be available for download in the first quarter. The game will run in Carbonized form under OS X v10.1 and subsequent versions.

• 300401 :: LoD Screenshot :: The Hireling Screen allows players to see hireling stats and equip them with items. Hirelings can now be resurrected when killed, and can travel across Acts.
• 300401 :: LoD screenshots :: Rune + Rune Set :: You can create your own Unique Items using Runes Sets. When a set of Runes is placed in a Socketed Item with the correct number of sockets and in the correct order, the item takes on the properties of the Rune Set.
• 280401 :: LoD screenshot :: Orbs are new class-specific weapons that can be worn like a Wand with a Shield. This Orb offers bonuses to Sorceress skills similar to Staves.
• 280401 :: LoD screenshot :: Charms held in a character’s inventory grant additional magical properties – at the cost of space. Charms do not work in the Horadric Cube or Stash. Notice also the updated interface, with the new attribute points and new skill points buttons shifted to the bottom.
• 270401 :: LoD screenshot :: The War Pike is an Elite item that can only be found on Hell Difficulty. This Spear-class weapon replaces the Lance. Also, Spears can now give bonuses to Amazon skills.

• 200401 :: Normal & Exceptional Bows & Crossbows updated with (tentative) stats for the Crusader Bow. Stats for the Hydra Bow were put in two days ago, though we didn’t announce it here. The Crusader Bow was mentioned by Bill Roper in the April 01 Fansite Interview.

• 150401 :: For those wondering, the LoD Beta FAQ states that Blizzard received approximately 78,100 applications. If you happen to be one of the lucky 2,500 chosen, you should receive your email soon.
• 130401 :: Take a look at the Blizzard Insider for some LoD news. This issue features a special StarCraft Cinematics DVD offer, LoD .mp3 download and Bill Roper telling us how many people it takes to develop D2 ((100, 40 on the core dev team)).

• 010401 :: New Option in LoD Announced :: Straight from the desktops of Blizzard comes this first look and listen (Download for PC or Download for Mac (3.7MB)) at the updated NPC interaction menus.
• 300301 :: Eurogamer has an interview with Bill Roper, who talks about, among other things, LoD. Part I, Part II and LoD.
• 280301 :: Starting Wednesday, April 4, Blizzard Entertainment will be seeking beta testers for Diablo II: Lord of Destruction. Applications will be accepted from noon pacific daylight time on Wednesday, April 4, until noon PDT on Wednesday, April 11. Beta testers will be chosen randomly from the pool of applicants. Applicants must own a copy of Diablo II and must be U.S. or Canadian residents 17 and over. System requirements for the expansion set remain the same, but those wanting to run the program in the new 800 x 600 resolution will need higher-end machines. The focus of the test will be on improving game server stability and capacity. Please be advised that the beta test server will experience frequent periods of instability during the testing period.   All of the classes can expect a boost in the form of new items: The Paladin will find a variety of Paladin-specific shields at his disposal, and Amazons will be able to take advantage of new gloves with properties that will benefit them. The Barbarian classes will enjoy the benefits of new helmets. Some of the new class-specific items will alter the way certain classes are played. We’re particularly excited about the orbs, which Sorceresses will be able to carry – these magic artifacts will provide spell benefits just like staffs, but because they’re one-handed you’ll be able to carry shields and still use them. Similarly, the Necromancer will get “totem” items that will carry strong magical and defensive benefits – he’ll be able to use these in his shield hand.
